Since we launched, it’s been one of the most frequently answered questions from new users – does MobalPay work with payment apps? We’re super happy to confirm that, yes MobalPay now works with three of Japan’s most popular payment apps!
You can add MobalPay as a Payment Method in AU Pay, Rakuten Pay and d-Barai. That means that your experience of paying in Japan just got a whole lot more convenient! You can add your MobalPay Mastercard in exactly the same way that you’d add any other payment card. Some of these apps may need to perform a small pre-authorization transaction to check that your card’s working properly, so please make sure you’ve got some balance in your MobalPay account before you try to add it as a payment method.
You’ll need a Japanese phone number
As each of these apps send you an authorization SMS when you set up your account, you’ll need a Japanese phone number in order to use them. If you don’t yet have one of these, don’t worry! You can use your MobalPay card to purchase a Mobal SIM. You’ll get a real Japanese phone number, access to flexible data plans to suit your needs, and crucially for these apps, the ability to send and receive SMS messages!
Mobal has exactly the same charitable values as MobalPay. That means that you’ll have both a SIM card and a payment card that contribute to charity projects around the world! Plus, you’ll have the ability to use your favorite payment apps all over Japan.
